Step 1 FEEL

- Load shedding - Contamination of the environment

Seeing that Zambia is experiencing a lot of load shedding and land pollution, we decided to create a lamp using affordable materials e.g. plastic bottles, bucket, box and a battery. This was to prevent land pollution and providing a light source in homes.

Mostly schools going children who need to study at night to maintain a good academic performance. Some of the primary concern included poor performance in class, use of candles increased the rate at which toddlers get burnt.

Step 2 IMAGINE

1. Generating electricity using waste products. 2. picking bottles but later realized it did not change anything. 3. Creating a lamp using plastic materials

Creating a lamp using plastic materials. This is because reusing plastic materials helps in the reduction of land pollution i.e. using plastic materials to create a lamp: with a battery a switch, a LED and plastic holders

Step 3DO

Gather the materials you need, take the box and insert a plastic rode. Cut the bottles an connect using glue, put the connected bottles around the plastic rode, insert cable and put the basket on top. Connect the cables to the battery and decorate the external parks.

The lamp was able to turn on and off without the use of electricity and the decorations made the people around amazed. The impact is to help people especially on -going children by providing a source of light and reducing land pollution.

50

- They loved it and were happy to know that a solution to load shedding has been found. - If they are produced at a large scale, more people will be able to experience the good wonders of plastic lamps.

- Connecting he basket to the rode was very hard and we did not know how to connect the two not unit we tried using soft wires to put everything together.

Affordable and Clean energy

The use of plastic materials makes it easy to produce unlike suing other expensive materials and seeing that the lamp is able to turn on and off without polluting the environment gives it an advantage.

Step 4 SHARE

We shared the lamp with out school friends and the neighbors who turned out to marvel at our works. Upon people seeing it, some where inspired and wanted to make use of other materials in the environment and finally we shared with our mentor

20-50

Many people will have a way of lighting up their homes without wasting much of their money and trying to ensure that we make use of plastic materials unlike polluting the environment.
