Step 1 FEEL

-Burning of sanitary pads. -Lack of sanitary pads.

-We choose the hand made sanitary pads because we don't manage waste properly. Usually they are burnt. -This caused air pollution. -Others can't afford to purchase sanitary pads.

-The female pupils who can't afford to purchase sanitary pads. -The people living near areas were they are disposed off and burnt inhale the smoke which is dispersed in the air.

Our school has a tailory bin so we saw an opportunity to use the disposed materials to create the sanitary pads.

-Affordable towels | sanitary pads. -They can be use during monthly menses, for warmth during the cold season as pant linery and to prevent infections in females.

-It is affordable. (Christine Mutale Grade 12 pupil) -It's sustainable. (Either Siwale Grade 12 pupil)

-Time to complete project because we had to balance school teaching & leaning activities - Good time management. -Sourcing for the mutton cloth which can easily suck liquid. - we found an old one in stores.

Step 4 SHARE

-We engaged girls and they really loved our project. -Our communal health center is also interested in our project. The intend to teach young mothers this skill

-We plan to release a video of our project on several social media platforms, so that, other pupils in our country especially those in rural areas can afford good sanitary pads and ultimately help planet Earth from pollution
