Step 1 FEEL

The following are the anxieties reported by children aged 7 to 8. Their siblings fight with them. They get sick repeatedly. 'Shaitan' annoys them. The noise of planes distracts them.

When our students voted on their primary concern, an overwhelming 75% expressed their worry about frequently getting sick. This outcome highlights the prevalence and impact of this issue in their daily lives. It underscores the importance of addressing this problem to improve their overall well-being and ensure a healthier and more productive school experience for all students.

The people most affected by the problem were the Grade 2A students, aged around 6 to 8 years old. During our discussions, these young students expressed a significant worry about falling sick repeatedly. Their primary concerns included the disruption to their learning and playtime, the discomfort and inconvenience of being unwell, and the impact on their ability to participate fully in school activities. This recurring issue not only affected their health but also their overall happiness and ability to enjoy school life to the fullest. Addressing this problem was crucial to enhancing their daily experiences and promoting a healthier school environment.

Step 2 IMAGINE

The list of solutions imagined by the students: Eat healthy food. Stop eating junk food. Plant trees around them. Take a bath regularly. Brush their teeth twice a day.

Grade 2A chose to implement the solution of planting trees around them. They decided on this approach after recognizing that a cleaner and healthier environment could significantly reduce their frequent illnesses. By planting trees both at school and at home, they aimed to improve air quality and create a more pleasant and health-promoting atmosphere. This solution was practical, actionable, and had the potential to make a lasting impact on their health and well-being, as well as on the broader community. The students believed that by enhancing their environment with more greenery, they could contribute to a cleaner air and a healthier lifestyle for everyone involved.

Step 3DO

The focus was on improving their environment to enhance health; they planted trees both at home and in the school, aiming to purify the air and create a healthier space. These tangible actions addressed their respective problems effectively and showcased their commitment to problem-solving.

The result of Grade 2A's project was notable and positive. By planting trees around their school and homes, the students successfully contributed to improving their immediate environment. The presence of more trees helped to mitigate noise pollution, enhance air quality, and create a greener, more soothing atmosphere conducive to learning and well-being. Moreover, engaging in the project fostered a sense of responsibility towards environmental stewardship among the students, who learned the importance of taking proactive steps to address health concerns through sustainable practices. Overall, the project not only had immediate benefits for the students' health and learning environment but also instilled valuable lessons about conservation and community involvement.

The students and teachers involved in Grade 2A's project had positive feedback about the initiative to plant trees. Students expressed excitement about contributing to a greener environment and noticed improvements in air quality around the school and their homes. They appreciated the opportunity to learn about environmental conservation and felt a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Teachers observed a heightened awareness of environmental issues among the students and noted improvements in the overall atmosphere and learning environment due to the increased greenery. Both students and teachers agreed that the project not only benefited their immediate surroundings but also promoted a sense of responsibility towards caring for the environment among all participants.

While implementing our project in Grade 2A, we faced several challenges. One significant challenge was coordinating the planting efforts both at school and in students' homes. Ensuring that all participants understood the planting process and had access to necessary materials like soil and saplings required careful planning and coordination. Additionally, weather conditions posed a challenge as we needed suitable weather for planting and ensuring the survival of the newly planted trees. To overcome these challenges, we organized workshops to educate students about proper planting techniques and the importance of tree care. We collaborated closely with parents and community members to secure resources and support for the project. Flexibility in scheduling planting sessions helped us adapt to changing weather conditions and ensure successful tree planting events. By addressing these challenges through teamwork, education, and adaptability, we were able to successfully implement our project and achieve our goals of enhancing the environment and promoting sustainable practices among students.

Good health and well being

I believe our project is addressing the global challenge of health and well-being because it focuses on improving environmental conditions that directly impact our physical health. By planting trees, we aimed to reduce air pollution, provide cleaner air, and create a healthier environment both at school and in our community. This initiative not only promotes better respiratory health but also instills awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability in maintaining overall well-being. By taking proactive steps to enhance our surroundings, we contribute to a healthier future for ourselves and others, aligning with global efforts to improve public health through environmental stewardship.

Step 4 SHARE

We shared our Grade 2A project with various groups within our school and community. To begin with, we presented our initiative to other classes during dedicated sessions where we explained the importance of planting trees for environmental health. Additionally, we showcased our project at a school assembly, reaching a wider audience of students, teachers, and parents. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with fellow students expressing interest and support for our environmental efforts. Teachers and parents commended the students for their proactive approach to improving the school environment and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among the younger generation. Overall, our project was well-received and sparked meaningful discussions about sustainability and community involvement.

More than 100

To sustain the impact of our Grade 2A project, we plan to continue caring for the trees we planted by organizing regular maintenance sessions. This includes watering, pruning, and monitoring the growth of the trees to ensure their health and longevity. We will also engage in educational activities to raise awareness about the importance of trees and environmental conservation among our peers and the wider community. By encouraging ongoing involvement and appreciation for our green spaces, we aim to maintain a lasting positive impact on our school environment and inspire future generations to prioritize environmental stewardship.
