Step 1 FEEL

1. Sanitation issue in the community 2. Increasing stress among students 3. Network issue during online classes 4. Lack of access of health facilities in remote areas

Lack of access of health facilities in remote areas was chosen because the students who belong to a tiny village far away from the nearby town have witnesses many sick people suffer because of the lack of information system and access. Especially farmers and farm labourers who work in remote fields have no access to health facilities if they fall sick at work.

The patients, the care givers, people without access to health facilities in remote locations and others in the family and community.

Step 2 IMAGINE

1. Health Care camps in remote areas 2.Making suitable clothing for different heakth conditions 3. Awareness campaign about health conditions in remote areas 4. Health monitor wristwatch

Health monitor wristwatch was chosen because it was apractical solution where the patients and caregivers do not have worry or possess any special knowledge about health conditions. The watch works on its own and reports when situations go grim. The use of sensors make it a low cost yet effective solution.

Step 3DO

The implementation process began with online research on snesors which can monitor heart rate and temperature. They built a proptotype with a SOS button to send the location via GIS through a text message to the pre set healthcare facility. They spoke to a physician and farmer to understand the crisis on both ends [the patient and the doctor] and framed their solution on the feedback.

The protototype was demonstrated to the entire school and was highly appreciated by the peers and the teachers. Also, the video was posted on youtube for proliferation so that some passionate health entrepreneur can take up this cause and build low cost devices that can save precious lives.

One of the interviewed farmers, Sri.Pagal remarked that many farmers die of snakebite or heart ailments without any healthcare access. This machine will be a boon to them. Dr. Shyamal Kanti Dutta, a physician remarked that doctors are often helpless when a patient is brought to the facility too late. A device which can quickly detect the failing condition and report to the hospital would a blessing to both patients and doctors.

Identification of sensons was a complicated task for Grade VIII students. Also, it took a long time to device a way of sending the text message to nearest hospital

Good health and well being

The health monitor would democratise the access to healthcare which is still a distant dream for people in remote locations. If the device reaches every patient then India will a happy, healthy nation in 2047.

Step 4 SHARE

The project was demonstrated in the school assembly. The video of the same was shared on youtube and the school social media handles. The teachers, peer and the management were highly appreciative of the students farsight and concern for the well being of their remotely located community.

More than 100

The young change makers are looking forward to passionate health entrepreneurs and innovators to build and market this lowcost device to the remotely located population who suffer and die quietly.
